1941 - The Original 16

Dodgers go to the World Series for the first time in 21 years. They split the first 2 games at Yankee Stadium. In the 3rd game, 39 year old knuckle baller, Freddie Fitzsimmons had a shut-out going in the 6th until his knee cap was broken by a shot from Russo's bat. Yankees too the 3rd game.

In the 4th game, the Dodgers had a 4-3 lead with 1 out remaining. Hugh Casey threw 3rd strike curve, which some say was a spit ball, to Tommy Henrich that got past Owens. Error was charged to Owens and the Yankees rallied to a 7-4 victory.

Ernie Bonham tossed a 4 hitter in the final game, giving the Yankees their 9th Championship.
