April 5 - President Kennedy's opening pitch was low and wide at the Senator's openeing - Baltimore took the game 3-1 -  Reds beat the Pirates in the NL opener - Reds are picked to finish 3rd behind the Dodgers and Giants - Red's rookie Pete Rose walked in the first and was driven in by a Frank Robinson HR - Rose helped turn 3 double plays - Yankees begin their drive for a 4th straight pennant

May 1 - Cardinals' Curt Simmons defeats the Braves 2-1 for his 4th consecutive win - lowering his ERA to 1.25 - Bob Uecker had a pinch hit double but was thrown out at home - Pirates recall Vernon Law, 1960 Cy Young winner from Kinston, NC where he was trying to warm up in the milder weather

June 1 - Don Drysdale strikes out 13 but gets the loss - his record falls to 6-6 - ChiSox veteran 1st baseman, Joe Cunningham,  trips over the bag trying to run out a grounder - breaks shoulder and will be out for 2 months - Colt's Rusty Staub hits his first major league HR

July 1 - Last place Houston Colts' 17 year veteran pitch, Hector "skinny" Brown claim to fame is that out of the only 2 Sunday night games played in the majors he has won both - after the loss to the Colts, the Cardinals still hold a 1 1/2 game lead - Pirates' Bob Freind extends is now 7 for 7 against the Mets - Robin Roberts has pitched 573 games, but this is the one he will have nightmares about - after pitching 13 1/2 inning against the Kansas City and giving up 1 run - his Orioles' team-mates left 13 men on base - Dick Hall relieves and gives up a game winning single - Orioles lose 3-1 - Twins on a 7 game winning streak - 38 years old Yogi Berra, now used as a coach and pinch hitter,  slugged a 3 run HR against the Red Sox - Reds' Vada Pinson extends his hitting streat to 18 games - Dodgers' Ron Perranoski, with 9 wins in relief,  is on pace to beat Roy Face's 1959 record for a relief pitcher wins of 18

July 9 - ALL STAR GAME - Only 44,160 fans showed up for the game, only half of Cleveland's Municipal Stadium seating - attending fans were disappointed after paying $6 - $8 for tickets - they didn't see some of the best in the game - Spahn and Marichal just game off the famous 1-0 16 inning duel - Koufax didn't pitch - Willie Mays steals the show - only  1 hit, 1 rbi - 2 runs scored - 2 stolen bases - and the best catch in the game by robbing Pepitone of at least a double

August 1 - Mets' Roger Craig loses to the Dodgers for his 17 consectutive loss - Orioles dominating the Tigers - 10 for 12 this year - Indians' Pete Ramos defeats the Angels - strikes out 17 and hits 2 HR - Reds stop Jim O'Toole's 6 game losing streaking by snapping Bob Gibson's 5 game winning streak - Angels' Paul Foytack is the first pitcher in the AL to give up 4 consecutive HR's - 4th coming on a brush back pitch that didn't work

September 1 - Cubs' Ellis Burton hits a walk-off grand slam off of Hal Woodeshick - 42 year-old lefty Warren Spahn gets his 18th victory on route to his 13th 20 wins season - Bob Turley breaks his 5 game losing streak

Oct 2 - @ NY - Dodgers - 5 - Yankees 2 - Koufax fans 15 Yankees - to set a new World Series record - breaking fellow Dodger Carl Erskines record set 10 years ago - Johnny Roseboro hit a 3 run HR off of Whitey Ford in the 2nd
 
Oct 3 - @ NY - Dodgers 4 - Yankees 1 - 31 year-old Johnny Podres goes 8 1/3 - Perranoski closed the door - Al Downing "the kid" only 22 years-old  gave up 2 runs in the first - errant pick-off play from Downing allowed Wills to get to 2nd - setting up the 2 run inning

Oct 5 - @ LA - Dodgers 1 - Yankees - 0 - Don Drysdale throws a 3 hitter - Mickey Mantle on Drysdale "He's the best left-hander I ever saw" - 29 Yankees have struck out in 3 games - tying the Cardinals record of 1928 in 4 games

Oct 6 - @ LA - Dodges 2 - Yankees 1 - Koufax wins and Whitey Ford loses with a 2 hitter - Mickey Mantle's 15th World Series HR ties him with Babe Ruth - Yankees suffer thier most humiliating World Series - scoring 4 runs and batting .171
