April 16 - Indians' pitcher, Happy Milnar shuts out the White Sox 6-0 - World Champion Reds are shut-down again by the Cardinals - Dodgers commit 4 errors, giving the game to the Giants - Browns' Elden Auker 4 hits the Tigers for the win - NKE 

April 18 - Hank Greenberg declared 1-A and will be drafted May 7 - World Champion Red are 0-4

April 19 - Boston Bees will be sold next week, Ford Frick in Boston for consultation - Stengel to remain as manager

April 20 - White Sox - Bees game called due to cold weather - NL teams averaged 15 runs, 25 hits and 4 errors in today's games - Only 1 pitcher lasted 9 innings (Red Ruffing) in the majors when the Yankees beat the A's 19-5

April 21 - Giants' Mel Ott hits his 4th HR, winning over the Dodgers 7-6 - Washington Senators stopped the Red Sox' 5 game winning streak - Yankees defeat the Athletics 14-4, Joe DiMaggio hit a HR, double and 2 singles - NKE

April 22 - Bob Feller warned pitch stealers today to stop stealing his signs or half the clubs "will be in the hospital" - Struggling since his back-to-back no-hitters, Johnny Vander Meer may be on his way back - shutting out the Cub 1-0

April 23 - Bucky Walters shut-out gives the Reds a 4 game winning steak - Phil Rizutto wins the game for the Yankees against the Red Sox with a 2 run hr in the 11th

April 29 - Indians hold onto the AL lead with their 5th straight win - Dodgers lead in the NL

April 30 - Tigers got out of their hitting slump, knock out 18 hits to defeat the Red Sox 12-8

May 1 - Cardinals % points ahead of the Dodgers in the NL - White Sox hold lead over the Indians in the AL - Johnny Van Der Meer pitched a shut-out against the Dodgers giving the Reds a 3-0 victory

May 6 - Hank Greenberg, baseball's highest salary player,  hits a 2 run HR in his farewell game for the Tigers - Cards winning streak stopped at 10 games - Indians winning streak stopped at 11 games

May 7 - Larry McPhail and 2 John Hopkins doctors apply for a patent on Brooklyn's new safety cap - Card's manager Billy Southworth switched out pitchers 4 times for 6 batters in 2 innings but Dodger still win 4-3 - Reds' Eddie Joost set a major league record for a shortstop by handling 19 fielding chances and Bucky Walters throws a shut-out

May 8 - Hank Greenberg inducted into the Army - Dodgers beat the Cards in 12 innings, they have won 13 out of 15 during this home stand

May 13 - Feller goes 10 innings, beating the Yankees 2-1, record is 6-2 - Dodgers win puts the Reds in the 2nd division - Reds' Secretary Gabe Paul says he got a shiner when he hit himself receiver of his office phone

May 14 - Dizzy Dean asked to be put on voluntary retired list, the great pitcher who is now 30 years old has only won 16 games in the last 3 season

May 15 - Cleveland's 31 year old pitcher Mel Harder has started the year 4-0, defeating the Yankees who have lost 4 in a row - Red Sox manager, Joe Cronin hits a grand slam to defeat the Indians 10-7 - Tigers lose their 6th game since Hank Greenberg departed for the Army - the World Champion Reds' General Manager, Warren Giles, now in the 2nd division, gave a $35,000 check to Branch Rickey of the Cardinal left fielder, Ernie Koy - Reported today that Dizzy Dean was paid $259,937 over 11 years - this year, as a Cub, he was paid $100,000 for pitching 1 inning - he is now on the coaching staff

June 2 - Dodgers nip the collapsing Cardinals 3-2 to climb into 1st place - ChiSox have a 1 game leader over the Indians - despite 12 errors in the last week - Mel Ott hits his 400th HR leading the Giants to a 3-2 victory over Cincinnati

July 1 - Iowa farm boy, Bob Feller has passed the half way mark to 30 wins - feat has been accomplished since Dizzy Dean in 1934 - his Achilles Heal appears to be Sportsman's Park in St. Louis - the Browns has sent him to the showers twice - Boston's Jimmie Foxx was named to the All-Star team - he has been named to every team since the first in 1933

July 8 - Ted Williams hits a 9th inning HR to drive in 2 men on base with 2 outs giving the AL the All-Star game - AL's 6th victory in the last 9 All-Star games - NL's Del Baker said that Williams knew it was gone and stood at home plate and clappe until it hits the stands - Neither Bob Feller of the NL and Whit Wyatt of the AL were scored on in the first 3 innings before they had to be pulled

Aug 1 - Redbirds maintain their 2 game lead over the Dodgers after losing 9-5 - Yankes take a double header from the Tigers - DiMaggio hits his 25th HR - extends his new hitting streak to 14 games - now he is 70 out of 71 games - Philadelphia A's defeat the ChiSox to take 4th place - first time in years that the A's have been in the first division this late in the year - Ted Williams is batting .409

Sept 1 - Yankees lead AL by 19 1/2 games - Cards lead the Dodgers by 2 percentage points - Card's Lou Warneke no-hit the Reds yesterday
